Your Walk With God Could Have More Influence Than You Think

Genesis 19: 29 So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, God remembered Abraham and set Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had lived.

You never know the influence your relationship with God may have on those you love that are maybe not walking  with Him right now.  God knew that Abraham was looking out for Lot when he kept asking if God would spare the cities if there were a few good people there and it is clear that Lot was not walking with God when his sons in-laws thought he was joking when he told them that God was going to destroy the city.  There was nothing in this story to indicate that Lot had much of a walk with God at the time of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, but God spared his life and the lives of his family because of Abraham.

Intercessory prayer is more powerful than we give it credit for.  Living a life that truly pleases God also obviously is much more powerful than we admit as well.  Where are you today?  Is there someone you love deeply and they are on a different path than they should be and your heart is broken for them and you just aren’t sure if there is any hope left?  Trust God, there is always hope!  Keep the faith and keep on praying for them and keep working on your own walk with God!  Be like Abraham and don’t hesitate to approach God for them and say “please show them your mercy and please bring them out of that place they are in.”  God cares and He hears your prayer and He knows your heart and if He needs to He can drag them out kicking and screaming just like Lot if there is a little spark of Him in their lives.  Notice that Lot was a follower of God although he wasn’t living for him, he was eager to serve the angels but yet hesitant to leave his lifestyle.

Maybe it is a child that you have raised for God and they are not walking with God, or a spouse or parent that isn’t living for him, maybe it’s close friend, don’t give up now.  If it were you, you wouldn’t want that “Abraham” in your life to give up on you so keep praying and keep living for God and trust Him to move in their lives.
