And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea, it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
If I were going to judge what this next year was going to be like based on today’s circumstances I would probably just throw in the towel. When we look around and there are seemingly no answers to be found what are we to do? When you look in your bank accounts and you not only see the emptiness you can hear it, what then? When your marriage is struggling or you feel as though you just can’t wait one more day for God to answer that prayer, where do you turn? When you woke up this morning what was the first issue of the day you felt you had to tackle? Our God is bigger than anything that may come your way! You have to keep in mind that “nothing is too difficult for our God!”
Jesus is very clear in these verses that we need to choose faith and refuse doubt! What mountains are you facing that just seem to be more than you can possibly handle by yourself? There are times in our lives when God allows everything to get to the point where there’s no where to turn except to Him. He wants to be there but it is up to us to trust Him and to turn to Him and then to accept the help He sends. Don’t ever be too proud to accept His answers. Sometimes He will use the most unexpected people to be there when you need help so it is also important to not steal their blessings by not allowing their help. The key is to stop for a moment and make sure that you aren’t harboring sin in your life that needs God’s forgiveness in order for Him to move in your life, then be sure you are asking with the right motives (don’t be asking for a new car to show up your rivals or that new “Coach” purse to make your friends jealous – there’s nothing wrong with those “things” but the motive is off). God loves to move in His children’s lives in ways that others can see that it is so amazing that it is obvious it is a God thing – you don’t deserve it and you certainly couldn’t do it on your own.
So, where’s your faith today? Maybe it’s time to fast to increase your faith, maybe it’s time to sit down with your Bible and allow God to give you that verse you need to know what He is up to. If God knows the number of hairs on your head how could you possibly think that He doesn’t care about every detail of your life? It is time to put our faith to work and truly believe that God is able and willing to be our answer today! If you lack in faith ask Him to give you the faith you need this morning so you can believe and ask in prayer so you can receive the answers you need today. I am praying for all of you today that your faith and trust in Him will increase beyond measure!
