Could Unbelief Be The Problem

by | Apr 13, 2019

Mark 6:5-6. And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.  And he marveled because of their unbelief.

I do not want that to be the story of my life!  The last thing I want to do is die one day and have God say, “well, I would have done so much more in your life if you had only believed me for it!”  I wonder how many times already in my life, God has marveled at my unbelief and hasn’t done all that He could have done because of it.  Aaaaauuuuggghhh!  That is the last thing I want!  How often though are we what is holding us back?  How often does God have more for us but we just don’t believe.  We believe Him for just a little, just enough to get by, but we don’t believe Him for all He is capable of.  We believe like they did, for a few sick to be healed, but we don’t believe for miracles in our own lives!

How it must grieve God’s heart that we can know who He is, He has told us over and over in His word and yet we don’t believe that He can perform great things in our lives so we miss out!

Is there something you have been fretting over and praying about and yet you aren’t fully believing God for a miracle?  Is there something you desperately want but have no idea how it will ever come about?  Maybe things won’t turn out quite the way you planned, but trust Him, it will be more and better than you could have planned if you will just trust Him!  We will all experience heartache and struggles in life, we all know that because that is life and the Bible has told us that life is full of struggles, but don’t just leave it there!  Believe for God’s best as well!  No, this isn’t “name it and claim it day”!  But don’t get so worried about that, that you miss out on God’s best because you are afraid you may believe for too much!  How “funny” is that really if you think about it?  “I don’t want to believe Him for too much because well……. I’m not really sure why someone may think I am a “name it and claim it, person”.  Really?  I have an older sister (if any family members are reading this….. ‘not too much older, Jos) who was moving to another state and she prayed and told God that she wanted her house in this new place to have a pool and she gave the details of the house and she wanted a Magnolia tree and she wanted a table in her kitchen that had a glass top with a bowl shape under the glass that she could put things like plastic fruit or flowers etc. in.  She believed God for it and low and behold the house and pool were what she had asked for and the owners had the table she prayed for and agreed to leave it with the house!  She could have just prayed for a nice house with 3 bedrooms or something along those lines, but she prayed and believed for what she wanted, knowing that God loved her and would be delighted to bless her for her faithfulness.

Why not start today believing Him for His best.  If you aren’t sure what that may be, ask Him!  Ask Him for His best and ask Him to give you the desire and faith for His best!  Don’t just settle today, believe Him for all that He has in store for you!  The best is yet to come!
