1 Chronicles 14: 13-15
And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley. And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; go around and come against them opposite the balsam trees. And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out to battle for God has gone out before you to strike down the army of the Philistines.”

Maybe you are too set on doing it your way. Maybe there’s another plan and God has already gone before you to clear the way. I know I have times when I will plan everything out for God because my way seems so simple and comfortable only to find out that God had a better plan and somehow didn’t need my help planning it out.

Before you bolt ahead with your plans, ask Him. Ask Him if the plans you have laid out are His or yours. Double check to be sure that you are on the same page with God on this. As many battles as David had fought against the Philistines and won, he could have just assumed that he was to go up against them again but he didn’t, he asked first. Just because you have maybe faced the same thing before, don’t just assume that God’s answer this time is the same, He may have a better way. Part of the reason David was a man after God’s own heart was because He didn’t just assume He knew what God was up to or thinking, but he always trusted Him!

How much easier is it when we ask God first for His plan and follow it than it is if we just bolt ahead and then find out that God had something else in mind so we are back to square one! God wants to go before you, He wants to give you victory and His best in this so ask Him! Follow Him unreservedly and watch as He goes before you and wins this one for you!

I don’t know what you are facing today that you may have all figured out in your mind, but I would encourage you, if you haven’t cleared your plans yet with God to do so first. I am chief at coming up with things that just seem to make so much sense to me only to find out, yup, that’s a great plan Janet, but not mine! OOPS! (So, we can’t bury that crabby person in the back yard?) Just kidding, but seriously now, God’s way is always best and it is easier to follow it the first time instead of having to back track! How many lives were saved because David followed God around and through the Balsam trees than he would have lost just going up to face the Philistines?

Girl, just stop for a moment and pray about it. That doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen, it just may mean there is a better and easier way. Make sure your plans line up with Gods and then go forward with the confidence that He’s got this for you!
