2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

There are so many quotes I could think of that would go along with this verse, for example; “It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish that counts.” Zig Ziglar. So often our past may try to haunt us by being brought up by others or memories that flash through your mind randomly, but we must remind ourselves that we are a new creation once that sin is under the blood of Jesus and we must walk in the confidence of who He created us to be, not in the mistakes we have made in the past. Satan will do his best to keep you weighed down with past mistakes so you are not affective in what you are supposed to be doing. I am not just talking about sinful past mistakes either, I am talking about Satan trying to use any past failures, or poor decisions. He will use anything he can to keep you from moving forward.

Let’s tackle the ‘sin’ issue first. Do not allow Satan or others to throw your past in your face. God says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 Don’t allow sin to rule and reign in your life either. Ask God to reveal anything in your life that may be keeping you from all that you can be for Him. We need to daily ask God to help us be all we can be, Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” That should be our prayer every morning. Today is a new day with no mistakes in it, so begin it with God renewing all that you are.

Maybe you have made a decision that you are now regretting and thinking it wasn’t what you were supposed to do. Maybe you bolted ahead of God and charged right into the biggest disaster you have ever been in and now you are trying to figure out how to straighten it out and have decided you will never do anything like that again. Hmmmm….. we have all been in that place on some level or another, but don’t allow past mistakes keep you from pushing forward to whatever God has called you to. Often our past mistakes make us better for what we are called to do if we allow God to use it in our lives. Maybe you have rushed into business before and ended up with nothing but a mess on your hands, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t brush yourself off and try again, maybe it was just the wrong business. If God has created you with the abilities and desires to do something and you have tried and failed at it in the past, it doesn’t mean He isn’t in your trying again. Pray about the decisions you need to make, whatever they are and make sure you are truly open to His leading, don’t bolt forward on your own without His leading, learn from your past mistakes and follow Him with all the confidence that He has created you to do great things for Him!

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt. Allow that thought to sink in because it is so true! You are who God created you to be with all the abilities and talents you need inside to do all that He has called you to. You may need to allow Him to grow those abilities and talents to the level you need them to be so you can accomplish all that you are called to be, but you have no reason to feel inferior to anyone, you are God’s creation too. God didn’t create us all the same for a reason, “The Big Picture” takes variety and it takes every bit of that variety to bring it all together.

You are a new creation in God, your confessed sin is under the blood and He has created you to do great things for Him so don’t be discouraged if it isn’t moving like you think it should, or you’ve made mistakes. Dust yourself off, hold your head high and remember you are a child of the Most High God, He loves you and wants you to get on track and go with the confidence that He will work His good through you if you allow Him to!

Quote:
Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.” Will Rogers

This devotion really hit home for me. For years I have “Beat myself up” because of a decision I made years ago to become a mom. That was something I had wanted all of my life. So I adopted a beautiful little girl. The circumstances of how she came into my life and later into my home seemed to be Heaven sent. I recall having said on many occasions that it was God’s plan for me to adopt my daughter. I no longer believe this. She suffered so much hardship and heartache as a result of my decision. I love her so much and a few of years ago I let her go. I allowed her to be adopted by the foster family that she ended up being placed with after she was taken from me by social services. She still has so much anger toward me. I have struggled many times with punishing myself for all the mistakes I made in her life. I haven’t seen my beautiful girl in about 5 years and I still cry just thinking about it. I pray for God’s healing arms to bring wholeness and forgiveness to my sweet girl. She’s not a girl anymore. She’s almost 20 years old. It is time to pull myself up and try again but this time with God leading the way. Thank yo so much for this devo, it is bringing about healing.
