Take The Time You Need Or It Will Find a Way to Slip Away!

Luke 5:16. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.

Ladies, it is so easy to get so caught up in everything that needs to be done every day that we don’t take the time we need to just get alone with God and talk with Him.  I’m thinking that if Jesus, who is God’s Son, found it necessary to take time to be alone and talk with God, then we are in definite need of it!

I can only imagine what Jesus must have talked to God about, but he did teach the disciples how to pray with the Lord’s prayer:  “When you pray say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.  Give us day by day our daily bread.  And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”  Luke 11: 2-4.  He was giving them an example to acknowledge God for who He is and to pray within God’s will asking for what you need and for forgiveness for your sin and also to be delivered from the evil that may tempt us.”  We don’t have to use those exact words, but it is a great format, to begin with.

Do you find though, that throughout your day you are too tired to even think about finding a way to just get alone for even just a few minutes.  I find that if I don’t get enough “alone” time, I feel even more exhausted than I would otherwise.  We are all in need of quiet time!  A time where no one is talking, or wanting anything from us. A time where we can just allow our mind to relax for a little bit and focus on God.  I don’t believe in opening up your mind to whatever may happen to wander through via meditation ~ if you are going to meditate make it a time where you are open to God and Him alone, meditate on His Word.  We are called to take every thought captive so you don’t want to allow just anything to wander through ~ satan would just love that opportunity.  Take the time, whether it is once a day or once a week, but make sure you are getting some alone time.  Give yourself a break!  Remember that thing that you just love to do that almost seems like therapy?  Well, start today giving yourself permission to schedule that into your busy schedule ~ get rid of other things that are taking up too much space and get that back on your calendar to give you that time you need.  You need that time to refresh in order to be all you can be!  You know there are things on that calendar that can go!  I know if I don’t get time alone, I find myself wanting to jump up and down on the landing upstairs yelling, “I’m living alone!” like the boy from the movie “Home Alone”!

How will this next generation ever survive if they become even more busy than we are.  The generation raising them wasn’t as busy as their 4-year-olds are now.  Let’s start making a difference by setting the example for all those around us by taking some time to refresh our hearts and minds by taking that desperately needed break!  Take a bubble bath, or go to the beach alone, read a book, start that new herb garden you’ve been wanting to start, whatever it is that would bless your heart and give you some alone time with God, just do it, girl!  Draw closer to Him by giving yourself permission to have some time alone!
