Why Are You Afraid To Trust Him

by | Jul 25, 2015

2 Kings 20:6
“….I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David’s sake.”

What kind of heritage are you leaving behind? When you read about the kings of Israel in The Old Testament you can see where king after king reigned after David and when they would get in a tight spot because of their sin, God would deliver them because of David and His promises to David. Wow! Was David perfect? No, we all know He wasn’t perfect but He lived a life trusting God with all of His heart and He truly loved God. He was a “man after God’s own heart!”

It is sad that David’s descendants didn’t follow in his footsteps, following God with their whole heart, but God certainly showed mercy on them because of David. I am afraid there are too many times these days where following God is done more out of ritual (dragging your family to church on Sunday) than it is out of love and respect for Him and the desire to know Him more! We need to develop such a burning desire to know Him more that we live our lives around Him, not Him around our lives!

The more time you spend with God, the more you will learn of His character and the more you will trust Him. David didn’t just wake up one morning trusting God, He spent time alone with him out in the fields watching the sheep. David allowed God to guide Him in all areas of his life even when his enemies were trying to kill him. When David sinned and God called him on it, he trusted God’s judgement.

Do you trust God? Do you trust Him with absolutely everything? I remember when my kids were little thinking that if I told God that I trusted Him in all that He did with them that would instantly mean something horrible would happen and I would be heart broken. Why do we think that way at times? Trusting God means that you will trust that whatever comes your way, whether it is with your children or your job, finances, or your marriage, whatever it may be; you are trusting Him to give you the strength to make it through to the other side of anything that may come your way. We live in a world that is not perfect and therefore there are bound to be things that come your way that you will need God’s grace and mercy to get through. Holding on to that person or thing that you are afraid to give to Him, will not keep you from facing difficulties it just means you won’t be as prepared.

Let’s strive today ladies to give it all to God, trusting Him in all that we do and with everything we have! I want to live a life that will not only be an example to my children and grandchildren but one that will also bring God’s favor in their lives as well. God loves you more than words can say and Satan is going to do his best to lie to you just like he did Eve, saying that God doesn’t really want what is best for you. Shut down those lies before they have any chance to take hold in your mind and hold onto all the promises of God. The best is yet to come!
