You Don’t Have To Figure It Out On Your Own

by | Feb 24, 2020

Deuteronomy 1:22  Then all of you came near me and said, “Let us send men before us, that they may explore the land for us and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up and the cities into which we shall come.”

Moses was reminding the people of Israel here of how God had told them to go in and possess the land and to not be afraid and they decided after all the time in the Wilderness where God led them day and night to check out the land and start figuring it all out themselves.  The first mistake they made at the edge of the promised land was deciding that they needed to decide which cities needed to be taken and which direction they were supposed to go.  If they had just obeyed God and allowed God to guide them into the land He promised them they wouldn’t have wandered 40 more years and they would have been able to inherit the land.

It is easy to see their error because we now know the whole story but how often do we do similar things.  Are you struggling today because you have decided to figure it out yourself instead of praying and seeking God’s direction?  Is there something God has promised you that you are called to do but you are too afraid to take that step of faith?  Are you in the middle of something God has called you to and you are beginning to feel a bit lost and overwhelmed ~ don’t try to figure it all out yourself, take it to Him, He will show you!

Now, another mistake the Israelites made was they were not thinking about all God had done for them when He brought them out of Egypt, fed them, gave them water and led them through the Wilderness.  He provided for them with mighty miracles and yet they didn’t trust Him to safely take them into all that He had promised them.  I would like to encourage you to join me today in a little project that I am going to start for myself and my children and grandchildren; I am going to begin a journal on just a simple pad of paper for now and I am going to write down all that God has done for us over the years.  I am going to include little things and big things, answers to prayer, provision for simple pleasures, etc.  My reason for doing this is so we can be reminded when we face tough times of the faithfulness of God.  When you reach tough times one of the first things you need to remember is how faithful God is and how He has come through for you and others in the past.  Write it down, thank Him for it and let it encourage you in what you are facing today and then thank Him for all He is about to do for you today!  Remember that the God we serve is still a God of miracles!  He wants to show Himself mighty in your life today!  You are not alone!
